Corinne’s Historic Haven
CLASSICALLY MODERN
Corinne spent several years updating her historic home in Naperville, and when it came time to update the exterior space, she knew it required the right partner. The outdoor design needed to be an extension of the home, combining both classic and modern elements to honor the history yet achieve Corinne’s more contemporary aesthetic.
SCALE MATTERS
Complement, Not Compete
Magnificent homes deserve equally magnificent outdoor spaces, but, as is often the case, less is more. Our design team got to work creating a landscape plan that highlighted the historic beauty of the home, complementing its unique features. The scale of each element of the landscape design - from plants, to shrubs, even to the height of the border walls in the backyard - was carefully crafted to showcase the large windows and maintain an unobstructed view when inside the home.
The garage at the back of the property could have been viewed as a challenge, but we saw it as an opportunity. The front yard was perfect for sprawling gardens with a combination of plants and shrubs, giving beautiful color all year long. The front door is a statement piece with a dark paver porch that blends perfectly with the black trim. In the backyard, the paver patio is set apart from the driveway with a border of brick pavers that deliniates the two spaces. A fire pit and landscape lighting give the entertainment area the final touches to really make it shine.
