Meet Carlos

If you had told 18-year-old Carlos that he would one day take over his father’s landscaping company, he would not have believed you. He had his eye on international business with plans to travel the world. As so often happens, life had other plans.

After receiving his Associate’s Degree from College of DuPage, Carlos had a short stint at Bradley University, and he and Amanda learned they were expecting their first child. Providing for his family became Carlos’s top priority, and he decided to finish his college career at Illinois State University, earning a degree in horticulture.

Upon graduation, Carlos interviewed with 4 local landscaping companies, receiving offers from all 4. He quickly realized working for someone else would be the wrong decision and told his dad he wanted to take over Montano’s Landscaping. Juan shared that had been his hope all along, but he wanted Carlos to come to that decision without his dad’s wishes influencing him.

Since that time, Carlos has grown Montano’s from a mowing and mulching company to a full-service landscape design, build, and installation provider. Carlos is dedicated to treating each and every customer’s home as he would treat his own with its own unique set of attributes and obstacles. His business philospophy is that there are never problems because there is always a solution - sometimes it needs to be discovered.

Carlos and Amanda now have 2 more children and spend as much time together enjoying the outdoors as they can.
